Acers
All the
Japanese Maples are propagated at the nursery, and are either grown from seed or
grafted onto understocks to produce a high quality plant.
The
Maples grown from seed are grown in a 9cm pot, when they are 2 years old they
are either suitable for bonsai or for growing on into a larger pot for planting
out in the garden.
All the
named varieties of Maples are grafted on vigorous 2 year old
understocks and then grown on for at least a further 2 years to produce a
saleable plant in a 3 litre pot.
A
proportion of plants are then grown into 7.5 litre pots, these are then potted
into a 20 litre pot and eventually up to a 230 litre, the Maples can be 15 years
old and over 8 foot in height.
Please
see stock listing to see the availability.
Maples
are easy to grow, as long as you remember they do not like 3 things:
1
wet, bogy areas
2 windy
sites
3
Late hard Spring frost
It is
best to come and visit the nursery, to see the full range of varieties and sizes
available, but if you are unable to
visit, please do not hesitate to contact us; either by phone or e-mail. If you
are looking for a particular plant, it is possible for us to send a digital
photo to you if you have e-mail.
